I attended the PhD Intensive "SYSTEMS THINKING FOR ARTISTS- 30 SEPTEMBER - 1 OCTOBER 2023
During the Saturday, Sept 30th, 3-hour workshop RECORDS OF VIRUS AND HEALING WITH ZEERAK AHMED, we explored sound as a virus in a post-structuralist way. On one hand, we considered it as something that threatens our existence, on the other, as the antidote needed for our survival. The transformative power of sound art was the focus.
Then, during the Sunday, SYSTEMS THINKING FOR ARTISTS WITH ANDREW FREIBAND, the dialogue and discussion revolved around basic concepts of “systems science.” We considered what kind of a systems scientist each of us is already using in our own artistic practices. We mapped and named feedback loops, and systems mechanisms that we employ intellectually, intuitively, physically, or otherwise. In pairs, we did at least one collaborative exercise.
