Adam and I met for 90 minutes and discussed the following:
~ MS Teams meeting link...both of our Teams apps disappeared from our individual systems. For me, the 'Microsoft Teams classic' appeared instead, and for Adam, 'Microsoft Teams new' appeared. This presents a(nother) technology issue for us.
~ Adam's approval of my proposed thesis format, to approach it as an exhibition catalog for my recent solo thesis show 'Skin Deep...'
~ Robyn's suggestion that, rather than submitting research notes as I had last year at this time to begin discussion of my Confirmation reports, that I instead create a 'toile' like draft, which is create and submit to her and Adam my thesis draft ideas as the French construct garment making, which entails a preliminary step of using a cheap fabric to perfect the garment design, prior to realizing it in the final material version. (I.e., for this draft thesis, I combined her 'toile' approach with the 'Skin Deep' show catalog idea, thus synthesizing the two, which resulted in the attached initial thesis draft.)
~ As reference, Adam suggested that I look at monochromatic paintings and a text by Felix Gonzalez Torres.
~ How and who we might approach as my 'external' viva reviewers. I.e., depending on how many are required. Adam has a UK professor in mind.
~ Side bar re: similarities and differences between UK and US academic systems, specifically re: faculty positions, tenure and promotion timelines or 'clocks', and sabbatical structure. :)
~ My just submitted-to-him-and-to-Robyn thesis draft proposal, which includes:
a. TITLE PAGE
b. LIST OF CONTENTS
c. ABSTRACT
d. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS and/or DEDICATION
e. DECLARATION
f. INTRODUCTION
g. RESEARCH QUESTIONS (Q: Are these to be listed here, or simply included as part of or at the end of the Introduction, or not needed at all in the thesis?)
h. LITERATURE REVIEW
i. RESEARCH DESIGN (Q: Is this included in the thesis…or as an appendix, or not necessary at all?)
j. 18 ESSAYS- (Q: Each is introduced with an image of one of the 18 'Sking Deep...' exhibition paintings which will be subject of that auto-theoretical writing...how many images are permitted in the thesis (not with an appendix.)
k. CONCLUSION
l. ARTIST INTERVIEWS (Q: Should interview transcript texts be positioned:
~Here just after the Conclusion, or
~Right before the Conclusion, or
~Within the Additional Documents List (below) as an , or
~Instead of including interview text verbatim, is it best to lift direct statements
from various artists, and integrate the interviews into thesis text?)

Following the meeting, Adam and I agreed:
-Because we are now on different versions of MS Teams that do not align/allow for meeting invites, Adam sent me and I accepted an iCal invite for our next supervisory meeting on Dec. 21 at 10AM EST, 17:00 UK time.
_In the meantime, I will research and try to download a newer Teams Meeting app to replace my 'Classic' version.
_Before the Dec. 21 meeting, I will write and email Adam and Robyn at least one of the proposed 18 essays (I will write the 'conclusions' last). Note: Since I have 6 or 7 started, I will complete one of them.
_Adam will meet with Ian Wroot Mon. AM to again request that he approve my eDoc supervisory team updates. (Tho the 6 previously listed supervisors have been modified, eDoc still incorrectly lists 5 supervisors, when I have 2...the additional supervisors further slows an already very slow, but necessary/required eDoc approval process.)
_Adam will follow-up with Colin re: what exactly is to be included in the Thesis... in the 'List of Contents'? If so, where in the order?
__1. Does the PhD thesis format allow for the inclusion of images as part of the text vs as an appendix, and if so, is there a maximum number permitted/limit?
__2. 'Research Questions' to be listed separately here, or are they to be included (and not listed separately at the end of the 'Introduction,' or are they not to be included at all, anywhere in the thesis itself?)
__3. 'Research Design'... is this included in the List of Contents, as a section of the thesis?... or will it be an appendix?... or is not included at all?
__4. Where will my artist interview transcript texts or videos be included...within the thesis, thus in the List of Contents? If so, where in the line up? I.e.,
a. Right before the Conclusion... or
b. Just after the Conclusion... or
c. Within the Additional Documents List, i.e., as an appendix?
d. Instead of including interview text verbatim, is it best to lift direct statements from various artists, and integrate the interviews into thesis text, so not included beyond this?
_Adam will follow-up with Colin re: number and type of external viva reviewers.
_Similarly, I will follow-up with TT re: Viva external reviewers recommendation discussion already in progress.
_Adam will email me potential reviewer info, as well as F. Gonzalez Torres text info that he mentioned to me today.
