During my recent meeting with my LJMU supervisor Adam Carr, he suggested that I return to my early thesis title, ChromaTheory, so I am leaning towards it again. Meanwhile, my TT supervisor Robyn Ferrell made some suggestions as to how I might construct my (draft) thesis.
One idea that I like is her recommendation to approach it as an exhibition catalog for my recent thesis show, focusing on, and including images of the 18 exhibited paintings curated from the 50 or so I created during the past 2 years. Another that I also like is to set up the draft thesis like a toile ... /twäl/ (noun) 1. an early version of a finished garment made up in cheap material so that the design can be tested and perfected. 2. a translucent linen or cotton fabric, used for making clothes... then "fill it up" with essays on each piece.
As a result of both recent suggestions, and to prepare for my late November meeting with Adam, throughout this month I am creating a toile draft by:
a. Adding images from my recent thesis exhibition... i.e., one installation view to the front of the introduction, and one image of each painting to the start of each associated draft essay. At this moment, each draft essay title corresponds with the pictured painting title., and that may stay or change...?
b. Updating and expanding some of the essay sketches I wrote this spring.
